With a career covering more than 25 years in the fields of wellbeing and mental health I am dedicated to and experienced with supporting people achieve a positive sense of emotional wellbeing, purpose and direction.
For the past 15 years I have been working as a counsellor, mindfulness teacher, coach and trainer. I offer a depth of experience from working with private individuals, families, students and teachers, volunteers and employees, management personnel, and entrepreneurs, to name a few.
I am experienced with working one-to-one and with facilitating groups and training sessions. I also specialise in working with children and young people, and people living with cancer, or other chronic health conditions. I am a partnership therapist for the Living Tree and Stepping Out, for whom I facilitate monthly therapeutic groups.
Previously, I established and ran a counselling service in a Bristol secondary school for almost 4 years, in conjunction with being the safeguarding lead. I have supervised Macmillan volunteers; been a trainer with Voscur’s Training and Equalities Team; a counsellor for Mosaic and Relate, Dorset; and I have worked with 2 local authority Children’s Services departments.
Alongside my private practice I partner with several local organisations providing wellbeing support and assistance for their staff and/or service users.
I have been practising mindfulness, meditation and yoga for several years and many beneficial and foundational aspects of these practices inform some of my work with clients.
I am committed to and passionate about enabling people achieve their potential and develop greater understanding of the relationship they have with themselves, with others, and with the world around them.
I am professionally qualified with an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling, a Post Qualifying Diploma in Counselling Children and Adolescents, and a Mindfulness Teacher training. My professional counselling training is fully accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), with whom I am a fully Registered Member.
I hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate, and I work in conjunction with the BACP Ethical Framework and Good Practice Guidelines. All my therapeutic work is clinically supervised, and I am currently working to gain Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher status.
Over the years I have attended many other courses, and I continue to attend professional training sessions as a commitment to furthering my expertise and keeping appropriately informed about relevant new and emerging research.
In addition to my professional qualifications I ensure that I receive regular updates to child protection and safeguarding legislation.
